Gjøa Project - this is the next big contract that's being realized under supervision of AKER SOLUTIONS in several places all over the world: Norway, Poland, Russia and South Korea. Technical documentation is elaborated in India.

Purpose of this enterprise is to build and give to exploitation one of the most technically advanced semi-submersible platforms. Its name comes from a famous Gjøa polar vessel that was famous in the beginning of 20th century. In three years time Amundsen with his crew sailed on this vessel through the north-western seaway from Greenland to San Francisco.

Platform's job will be exploiting gas and oil deposit which are placed in Gjøa field that's situated about 60 km in the north-east from TROLL C platform. The field is placed on a depth of 360-380 m under sea level. It belongs to world's petrochemical potentates such as: Statoilhydro, Peroro, Gaz de France, Stell and RWE-DEA.

Over 12 thousand tons of steel construction performed by well-proven subcontractors will be merged and settled on a hull of 40 metres high and 14 thousands tons weigh in a building site of our client AKER STORD. After rigging with specialist apparatus and equipment, upper deck will reach a weigh of 20 thousand tons.

Our company takes active participation in this Project, starting from welding supervision to final assembly and welding - both steel constructions, as well as many types of pipelines installation. Moreover within the framework of our agreement with AKER OFFSHORE PARTNER our operators conduct NDT examinations that includes following methods: UT, MT, PT and VT.
